Hickson Wardle Treecare were requested to provide an estimate for the removal of a large, mature Fagus sylvatica (Beech tree). The tree had been issued a five-day notice from the London Borough of Hackney due to the presence of fungal pathogens that were severely decaying the main trunk of the tree. The decaying section of the tree was bearing the entire weight of the upper canopy (approximately 10,000 kilograms). The tree was situated in a small backyard surrounded by buildings and areas with high public use. Given the elevated risk associated with maintaining the tree, Hackney Council determined that its removal was necessary.
